Calculating the Efficiency of Complex-Shaped Fins

Calculation of fin efficiency is necessary for the design heat exchangers. This can be calculated individual finned tubes or continuous fins. Continuous fins are mostly used in plate-fin and tube exchangers (PFTHEs). In most cases, basic elements those PFTHEs circular, oval flattened pipes, which contain circular polygonal fins, as observed PFTHEs, divided into virtual Those have a rectangular shape an inline arrangement pipes hexagonal staggered pipes. research shows methodology using finite element method calculating any shape, placed on shape. paper presents examples determining seeming commonly PFTHEs. article, we also compare precision calculations complex-shaped exact analytical methods approximated methods: equivalent (Schmidt’s method) sector method. The results approximate compared to numerical simulations. with complicated shapes e.g., elongated segmented, presented.
